Who are we? Founded in 1989, the European Association for International Education is the acknowledged European centre for expertise, networking and resources in the internationalisation of higher education. We are a non-profit, member-led organisation serving individuals actively involved in the internationalisation of their institutions. The Annual EAIE Conference and Exhibition attracts more than 5000 participants from 90 countries. Throughout the year, we provide in-depth training courses for higher education professionals and publish a range of online and printed resources to keep our members updated on the latest developments in the field. The Office is situated in Amsterdam and employs over 25 international staff members. The official working language is English. Currently we are looking for a: HEAD OF EVENTS Standplaats: Amsterdam

As Head of Events, you are a passionate meeting planner who thrives in a fast-paced international environment. You are up-to-date with meeting industry trends and enjoy anticipating where the events business is headed in the coming years, especially for non-profits. You aren't afraid to try new things and can easily switch between getting things done and strategising about keeping your events cutting edge in the future. You are a tough negotiator with external parties and an engaging, inspiring colleague. You manage a team and report directly to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development and growth of the EAIE’s event portfolio comprising our Annual Conference & Exhibition, seminars and other small events.
- Create and manage an annual budget of €2 million.
- Secure bids from Europe's major convention centres and supervise negotiation of contracts with destination management companies and other suppliers.
- Establish and maintain relationships with sponsors and exhibitors, as well as city stakeholders and the local higher education sector.
- Oversee the volunteer committee responsible for the conference programme design.
- Work with fellow senior management to identify opportunities to improve delegate experience, reach new audiences, generate content and cross-sell opportunities, develop revenue streams, and improve profit margins.

Must-haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management or related field.
- Minimum 5 years in the events business, organising large scale meetings and/or exhibitions.
- Minimum 3 years of hiring, evaluating and supervising personnel.
- Proven business development ability.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written -communication skills in English.
- Flexibility: out of hours working and travel will be required at times.
- Experience in associations or non-profits preferred.
- Valid work permit

- Competitive salary: € 3385 to € 4953 gross per month, depending on education/work experience, based on 37.5 hours per week.
